Yield Management, or Revenue Management is an emerging field of expertise in the optimization of revenue. It has been practiced in airlines and the hotel industry for a long time. More recently, industries that use yield management extended to include airlines, hotels, freight forwarders, stadiums and other venues with a fixed number of seats, and advertising. Yield Management enables firms to improve their revenue through effective applications of microeconomic principles, financial tactics or sales techniques to the task of managing product availability and price.
