The Centre for Language Studies at HKU SPACE provides quality courses that meet the language needs of working professionals and lifelong learners in Hong Kong.

 As a leading language education provider, HKU SPACE has been serving the community for half a century.  Over 10,000 students benefit from courses offered by SPACE each year.  We offer courses in the following languages:

Our courses are designed to enable our students to use language competently and with confidence in various intellectual and professional contexts. At the same time, we encourage the individual to draw personal enrichment and enjoyment from the language learning experience we offer and to appreciate the literature and culture of  the relevant language.

We aim to promote students' continued long-term language development through the wide range of courses we offer. In addition to effective introductory courses, there are many longer programmes at different levels for students who wish to study for an extended period. Students who successfully complete our long programmes obtain HKU SPACE awards such as Certificate, Diploma, and Postgraduate Diploma in the target language concerned.

The Centre is also authorized to conduct several international language tests, such as BULATS (Business Language Testing Service) and the BJT Business Japanese Proficiency Test. Our courses prepare students and corporate clients for these kinds of language assessment and help them gain international recognition for their workplace language skills with employers and organizations worldwide.
